A 45-year-old man in Masaka has been boxed to death over 100 shillings.

Charles Ssengonzi was punched by his friend David Kiyimba, with whom they disagreed over 100 shillings.

The incident occurred in Butayunja Village, Kibinge Sub County.

Christopher Rugumayo, the CID officer Masaka district says that Kiyimba was gambling with Ssengonzi, when he punched him.

Rugumayo says that the Police has completed its investigations and is pursuing Kiyimba to be charged with murder.

Noah Serunjogi, the Southern region Police spokesman says that gambling is a serious problem in the district.

Serunjogi says they are working closely with local leaders to identify gambling spots in their areas to arrest the gamblers and drug addicts.

Sowedi Sserwada, the Butayunja LC 3 councilor says that they have tried in vain to stop people in the area to desist from gambling.
