A concept of democracy doesn't exist in tribal african societies

African cultures have no concept of democracy. It is not in their cultural DNA - memes - to surrender the power of the people to next leader even if the people chose to. It is a cultural abomination; so they hang onto power because the tribal customs and mores dictate so. The tribe is the only setting Africans can servive and thrive. Outside the tribe they become vulnerable enemies of other tribes. It's because electoral democracy at it core entails handing over power to the victor and that most Africans cannot countenance that that democracy has zero chance in Africa. The tribal "king" and his tribe use all the tricks to hang on to power until the king is pushed out by force or the Providence. - Ocheto

Institutions build over time, and a very long time indeed. Most of the African countries have so far passed through not more than five multiparty elections. Most are not sustainable democracies as yet. They need time to build sustainable democratic institutions. - Denis

lets not waste public resources on the next Ugandan election. Lets declare the incumbent the winner! No violence, no blood shed , no waste. The result will be the same with or without elections. - nalule
