Andrew You got it wrong

Andrew there s a saying that "people don't change they become what they are". And there is also a saying that "man has only one character". And this is how you got it wrong on Museveni.

Museveni has only one side, the greedy reactionary person. What you mistook to be his second character is actually a tool he uses to achieve the desires of his true self. This is why he is unable to maintain that good character. Pretence doesn't persist, at one point or the other it forgets its assumed character enabling the true self to emerge strong and visible. This trait is to continue and more ugly sides will continue to manifest themselves. Uganda should brace for the worst. - Vahid

Wao the independent has given a bold and truthful analysis of the double or multiple personality and character of Museveni the revolutionary, the visionary and the crude cunning guy who is the trouble causer and solver. He rocks the boat and is the only solution we have seen it in the conflicts in the country, amoung different groups and he has split the country into smaller groups and banged heads. He controls all the financial and economic base and institutions no wonder NSSF has a lot of trouble. Think about it the corruption under him is horrendous junk choppers, chogm, nssf, ghost soldiers, no inqury has been completely resolved. Today joseph behakanira is dead who took the money? m7 unbelievable dictator - Dora Nabukenya

Museveni retains some charm and moral credibility among those who are ignorant.

State House Entebbe is indicated on Google Maps as "Entebbe Grade A Hospital" complete with a red cross. This is a direct breach of International Humanitarian law. Soon we are going to see motorcades with red crosses.

We are not all ignorant. - Tsaile A

This article brings back memories of the deposed Muganda President Lule NRM, who was trying to make a comeback through Moi's Kenya. After Moi learning about the ill-health of Lule, M7 struck a deal with Moi to rid Uganda of Tito Okello thus the everlasting NRM Presidenty up to this time. One hopes civilian Lule wasp not military enough to imbibe in African military pdictatorship of Uganda. Mr Mwenda is right to start guessing the next NRM visitors come January 2011 when Mugabe type of electioneering and power sharing simmers into Uganda. Most probably will be Kagame and Kabila. - kabayekka

We used to hide in Rev.Kaggwa's house in Nairobi whilst ferrying stuff to UFM in Uganda. That Rev. had to escape kidnaps so many times till Broadcaster James Mukooza and his Brother inlawMois's men were working with Obote's equivalent of ESO to extradite our men to Uganda. One such extradited Mike Male devised ways to relocate him to London away from Moi. Among our kidnapped people was Sajad a UGANDAN OF PAKISTANI PARENTAGE. HE DIED IN LUZIRA. SO FOR M7 to honour Moi makes a mockery of "freedom fighting" all of a sudden! There are so many untold stories! - KATURAMU RWEBANDO FRED

Moi's Nyayoist was a "success": Mu7 is looking for an exit strategy

Ironically after Moi brokered as a shaddy deal that made Mu7's entry to Kampala less bloody, by staging shoddy Peace Talks a.k.a Peace Jokes, Moi became a bat of Museveni's demeaning insults. So, why the turn around? The NRM revolution that never was has come full circle and may be seeing in Moi's Nyayoism a way out. In a way Kenyatta was a Nyayoist too: he never rocked the boat. All white settlers held their farms, asians traders held their enterprises. So is Mandela's racial reconcialionism: the white South Africans are still the stewards of the economy. Whereas Mugabe by taking an opposite philosophy of grabbing white farms, has ruined Zimbabwe. Mu7 should be offer a way out: he gets a decent passing grade for taming an errant military that was ideologically rudderless. - Ocheto

What they all new but no one dared write

That Museveni suffers from a kind of bipolar disorder has been known for long now. There is no other way to explain the contradictions in Museveni's behaviour. No one dared put that in print until now. Mwenda, I don't know whether to thank you, or fear for your safety.

Museveni will not change, he will not bow out. His nature will not allow it. Therefore, it falls to his immediate family and friends to work out an exit for him that avoids a conflagration. Because they stand to lose most when that exit finally happens. As it (shortly) must.

Perhaps Moi was offering financial and investment advice

With many of Europe and America's banks in trouble, and having lost a fortune in Iceland, perhaps M7 was talking ex-crook in chief stuff with Moi. The subject at first must have centered on where it would be safe to stuff one's cash given the ongoing financial turmoil. The Far East must have been central to discussions given that Uncle Bob banks there. Having satisfied themselves that there really is no where safe and the fix is to steal more, they then turned their attentions to investments. Uganda's oil must have been central to discussions. The issue of how Moi's sons could front the investments was probably given a lengthy chew over, what with Merali, Sudhir et al getting too big for their boots and tending to skim off too much cream. - Mbukuuli ya Buganda

Gun men never Change!

A gun man will never change what ever plastic surgery or camouflaging he does to portray a different image of himself. On the African scene 99% of them remained/remain the same. How long they stay in power. Their legacy is: a ruined, divided and sick nation that fails to produce a single needle. I want to make an exception though. It is only Gerry Rawlings who set up a better plan for his country after he took over power using the gun. That is why today Ghana has taken a different route. It is already on the way to making a solid foundation for a nation of promise and hope if nothing goes wrong. The solution is for Africans to rid themselves of these gun men and the Mois. - OJA

Having analyzed Andrews story, politically, Moi 10yrs ago would have done the same like Museveni. otherwise, running out of ideas one could turn to desperate measures like birds of the same feathers. its like a dog going back to chew if own vomit. Gaddafi, Museven's mentor after liberation fell out when he "the king of kings" called for a a meeting with the kabaka of Buganda, which the unguarded president Museveni thought a secret to overthrow him. Long live the fathers of Africa, Patrice Lumumba, Kwameh Nkurumah, nelson Mandella and the like. Let our President focus on Uniting Uganda and set precedent in anti corruption. Divide and rule will never work in Uganda, creating new districts wastes tax payers money. - Harvey

Thank you Mwenda, I enjoy some of your articles and this one was spot on, the man master in thief is indeed not the man you see on television, ask those who work in state house, they can tell u more about the devil in the man. but let me assure all Ugandans that time is coming for him to go, I have my self spoken to many officers in the army and what they tell you is that the cause for their sacrifices is not worth it any more, the man has survived on corruption, greed and nepotism and when you see him going around the country dishing out money in envelops, lying to hard working Ugandans-you think he is talking sense. He told people in Semuto that the fight now is on poverty-what has done for the people of Semuto, I mean public services for the lst 24 yrs? - Moses

journalistic indepndency. Walk the talk lest we confirm the rumours. Wht walks like a duck..........!!
Regards M7 & NRM,your arguments are true, leaders world over have two "faces" no voter would stomach the second face.In africa most of the time rudimentary tactics or coarcion is used wch is unfortunate & shld be condemned. Regards leaders changing political strategy for survival its a common norm. Had it not been that then FDC,RA would not have come up. Political inertia is untenable. Its the under hand methods tht shld be avoided as you have mentioned them. If FDC,IPC,DP etc is to win then they shld know how best to treat those in the oppostion e.g NRM. Vegence shld not be done. Mr Mwenda your so bright & "connected" just charn out news as before,we are all ears. For God & my country. - MABO

Mr Mwenda you are really a colourful analyst of late!! For the last four or three consective articles, you can hardly end it wth out spicing it up wth Mr Kagame the only missing link this time is Ethiopian leader. To you these are your self appt african "new breed" & you will go an extra mile to make us belief. Suprisingly none of them have passed a critical litmus test regards the basic tenets of democracy for one to gloss abt. At least I have not read any. Out of over 50 african states its Rwanda & Ethiopia on track! I really love this. This is not the inquisitive, investigative & eloquent Mwenda of '97 to 2005. I hope the "Aghakan syndrome" has not eaten you up also(Ref,your resignation letter from monitor). Just revamp your former - MABO

Politic fact, museveni declared war on Acholi. NRM soldiers in Acholi land never bothered about LRA-afterall, Kony was killing his own. They would only fight if LRA attacked their bases or strategic positions. When innocent Acholi's found themselves without an alternative, some joined LRA and a few others NRA. For a reactionary museveni to totally wipe them out,he ordered all the Acholis in Camps. This was totally different from what happened in Kasese. Although this is not to say that they should have been similar, but in the mid 90's when Gen Muntu tried to end the war in northern uganda, Gen Salim hijacked everything on orders of his brother defying the then army commander (muntu) so as to keep the war going and the Acholi dying. - joseph

If the war against UPDA, Holy spirit Mvt and LRA was a war against the Acholi, shd we conclude that the war against the ADFfought in , Kasese, Butuku and other parts of Toro was a war against the Batuku, Bakonjo and Batooro?.

Andrew, no sane person can disagree or agree with you more. Museveni is a cold blooded, slithering, split tongue-personality; like the proverbial serpent that beguiled Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. To me he is the creepy devil incarnate. That is why many people fear him. His illegitimacy is overbearing. Whenever he opens his mouth, it echos Muzee Byanyima and family anguish, who continue to suffer the treachery of a man whom they fed and bred. Mwai Kibaki, Moi, Mugabe and Museveni make me dread old politicians. They are selfishness itself. The old are complacent. The million African youths in: CCM, DP, FDC, KANU, NRM, ODM, PNU, UPC, ZANUPF, etc. must rid themselves of these old, greedy, selfish politicians. - Lakwena
