Welcome back Louis, my former lecturer of Econometrics at Makerere University. I have read all the comments above. The message I get is that people are just frustrated with the banking sector in Uganda. Mixing politics with banking, high interest rates, banks cheating/conning customers, unfriendliness of the sector to business growth, the list is long. Like you advised me during the class days, I take this opportunity to also advise you to stick to your professional skills. Restructure the banking sector to benefit more and more Ugandans. Could you preside over the commercial banks and prevent their plundering of the savings of poor Ugandans?

Wish you success.

Cost of capital

The truth is that "indigenous" business will never be competitive when it has to service the debt on locally-raised capital at rates of interest in excess of 20%. Unaffordable credit is the most significant barrier to entry in business in Uganda. That's before we even get to the obstructions of the revenue authority, the gargantuan cost of energy and anti-competitive behaviour of key players in the market. Perhaps monetary policy might move to address that. - Omeros

Will Kasekende also be a puppet like his boss Mutebire?

Will Dr Kasekende also become a puppet of Yoweri Museveni as his boss Emanuel Mutebire, who just rubber stamps whatever Museveni tells him to do.Remeber,Mutebire was ordered by Museveni to give three million dollars to his brother Salim Saleh, and he complied. This was theft of government money. Will Kasekende have some spine and refuse to carry out such orders from the President?Only parliament must authorise how and where our money is spent.Certain rules must be follwed when it comes to spending government funds. At the moment ,no such rules exist,or are just disregarded. - Seezi Sewagaba

Did you know that over half (78%) of large financial sector organizations are planning to roll out more free software in 2010, according to research http://bit.ly/GlobalGraphicsfreesoftware commissioned by Global Graphics. The main driver behind this decision is to reduce financial organisations software license costs - Tamara Digi
