Many Ugandans are unexposed and have rarely travelled beyond their villages hence the tendency to see everything in terms of one's tribe, but I am hopeful that the sectarian mindset of many Ugandans will give way to a more patriotic one given that the youth of today are more exposed than their counterparts of say 40yrs and above. - Eric Semujju

Seeing is believing. The NRM government is a government of Bendits. Bandits don't adhere to any rule of law. Their banditry has been translated into 24-year mass corruption and sectarianism. - Lakwena

This state of affairs must not be overlooked by the United Nation. It has been bubbling up since 1900 to 1955. This was the period of intense modern reconstruction of the State of Buganda and a lot of refugees from adjacent tribal states immigrated into the country. This certainly has brought about much of what this article talks about. - kabayekka

Well then how can one explain this sort of segregation in terms of running a successful modern democratic process. If the minority tribe runs the affairs of the majority as in Ruanda, what is likely to happen in the near future. Indeed if such information is mass communicated, it tends to incite hatred civil war and murder. Whose fault would that one be to apologise and to whom should this apology be addressed to? - kabayekka

Charity begins at home

Charity begins at home. Even when another person from another tribe becomes President, he will have a tendency to favour his tribesmen and women. But in the case of Museveni, it has been overdone. Appointing somebody to a job, on the basis of tribe, can lead to incompetence, because the best person for the job might be discriminated against in favour of the less competent who happens to belong to the favoured tribe. As a result underdevelopment and mediocrity sets in at all levels. This is what we see in Uganda today. If one goes to the main operation theatre of Mulago hospital, it is flies and smell that welcomes you. If the place which is supposed to have the best hygiene in the country is that filthy, then there is no hope for Uganda. Let us call back the British to civilize us again. - Seezi Sewagaba

You and I are'nt yet astonished but simply take a glance at the above 2 ministries you will see the highest degree of sectarianism and nepotism or call political patronage!
Way fwd is what is important now as we approach 2011 polls; We call for civil disobedience , boycott and disinvestment in the entire country to compel the despotic and ruthless regime of Yoweri to disband, pressure both domestically and internationally will bring the notorious NRM REGIME OF THUGS , the tiny elite and the state institutions they have hijjacked for the last 24 years to disband, it our duty and responsibility to call to order those stealing and operating corrupt regime by using all avenues to isolate and undermine their self-centred illegal administration.

This disease has seriously eaten up this country to an extent that some of us are starting to believe that may be even God comes from one part of the country....... How i wish even the private institutions were also provided because for sure the virus has spread.... at times you go for job interviews and your the only odd man the rest are coming from the same village.... it too much - Ssebuliba Andrew

The hunter has of late been reversed to being the hunted....who is doing the hunting is the actual hunting fields. The problem is when surrounded and survival instincts take over; brutality turns into sectarianism and nepotism and safe-houses and clamping down on media and fearing the kings and clan leaders and then the tribes become a threat and then every individual is a threat......where will the hunter who is being hunted run to? - KATURAMU RWEBANDO FRED

I think this government has been the greatest merchants of sectaranism Uganda has ever witnessed! The leadership of the Uganda government should know that sectaranism does not help in building a fair, tolerant and safer society. Sectaranism should be fought by every Ugandan and this war can only be defeated by the use of ballot box in 2011. - Mo

When I was still in secondary school (1990s), I used to hear that the UPC government dished high profile jobs in government institutions only to people from the president Obote's close relatives. It was explained to me by my political education teacher that the reason Museveni went to the bush was to get rid sectaranism that was threatening to divide Uganda under Obote's UPC. My teacher went on to say that Museveni had now captured power and that there would not be any form of sectaranism under our lovely president Museveni. How I wish I could still get hold of my political education teacher to tell me a little more about how he is faring under Museveni! - Mo

The independent has done a good job abt this. However, how do they explain the same in private sector? Could the independent also publish for us employes of some of the known big sectors & corporates & media organisation as well as NGOs! The fact is serious meditation is needed. The same guys who cry foul now are actually having their own relatives in these institution. You may blame it all on M7 or govt, but the root cause is tht most ugandans are selfish & secterian in wht they do & say from independance era.As more university churn out graduates this will change like it or not. For God & my country. - MABO

He has outlived his usefulness and his tiny elite are all living in borrowed time.Time for them to ship out as there is no chance after 2011 for them to shape up.
