Wow - people speak of God, and talk about His children (the gays and straights alike) and then say to murder some of those children, in the 'name' of God. That is a very twisted logic. Sounds much more like Satan speaking - or the God of the Old Testament.

Speaking myself, as a person who has been gay my entire life (I am how God made me) I am very glad I do not live anywhere near Uganda and I will never go there or support that backwards and hate filled country as long as such evil and Satanic people make laws there.

I am a good person who works with my family & community, I do not kill others or cause harm, why do some people direct their anger and hate to me, just because of who I love? That truly is Satan acting to bring Hell to the Earth - and some people help make it happen. - John W Beck

Otunnu is real target of this law, shame on Ugandans for not seeing it!!!!!

That this law has nothing to do with morality is hinted at by it's silence on lesbians and incest. It is still supposed to divert us into fractious debates. The real target is Olara Otunnu come 2011. Upon Otunnu's return, he was quizzed by "certain" media as to why he is a bachelor. Otunnu himself warned of smears targeted at his sexuality were afoot. This law is designed to create a mechanism by which Otunnu can be detained and/or tied up in an embarrassing legal wrangle come 2011, as happened to Besigye with the rape case in 2006. Ugandans are too gullible for M7! M7 and Co. must (and rightly so) fall over laughing at the ease with which he continues to manipulate and hoodwink supposedly educated Ugandans. - mbukuuli ya buganda

Sheer Ignorance at work

contd from above: the problem still is that.... that even after this law of killing people is passed homosexuals will always be homos.....and the bad homosexuals will find ways to carry on their crimes. You might agree or disagree but there are gay people who are: law abiding, honest, hardworking, men and women of vulour, patriotic whose only sin is being homosexuals like you are liar, killer, you fornicate, commit adultery etc. But again, mere mortals like so much indeed they crave all the time to play small gods to the minority and vulnerable people. As was and still is the case with the black race and women by some people and establishments. So please show love to one another and judge not lest you be judged. Amen - kyebaddo

contd from above
like.......exactly like its a big problem when leaders steal money from national coffers and young people are left to feed on rubbish on the streets, problem like a minister uses his influence to defraud the workers of their hard earned income, i mean the problem is people die like flies on badly mantained roads and unregulated traffic due to corruption, the problem is fellow ugandans! that Our Sovereign country is run like a village market where the govt is the president!

Some of our legislators are ignorant ,totally and utterly out of touch with realities of a civilised world. The problem is not that, one being a homosexual;
the problems are: people who lure others especially the young into the act of homosexuality and those who abuse the young and vulnerable in their care.
Like it is a problem that bosses sexually harass, abuse and mistreat their employees, like husbands rape their wives few weeks after giving birth,
like heretosexual people spread HIV/AIDS disease intentionally to school going girls/boys,the problem is men who abuse/rape kids and young girls/boys(peadophillia), continued next comment - kyebaddo

I cannot comprehend the extent of ignorance portrayed in this Homosexuality Bill saga in my country Uganda. I just can't understand people the so called the elite and leaders of this country can think of enacting a law basing on nothing other than sheer ignorance and emotions.

While i agree recruiting, abusing and brainwashing the young and vulnerable people into homosexuality is wrong and should be dealt with harshily. I can never understand how one's sexuality or a private matter of two consenting adults as on how they want to enjoy their fundamental right and freedom to associate in the pricacy of their bedrooms can be a crime or anyone's problem.

Gay people are human beings in as much as you and i are...one day 40 years from now ugandans are going to look back and wonder how a wonderful reputation of a slowly developing country was so easily tarnished due to incompetent, religious and short sighted politicians.
It's always good to recall that the Ku Klux Klan, a notably famous hate organisation that was responsible for killing numerous black people in the USA did so under the guise of christianity.
We go from hosting the commonwealth to being eliminated from the common wealth in under 24 months. What kind of foolishness exists in our dear country.
We've got to deal with the real issues that affect our very existance and future. - Gay..straight..whatever

On this I entirely agree with this part of the bill that intends to protect children and others at higher risk. As for choosing sexuality, I think people should be allowed to do so if they do not harm others in the process BUT the problem is no one is choosing that freely in Uganda - Those who 'chose' to be are either groomed or are promised a better life by established gays or gay brigades. This in itself involves infringement of human rights of those groomed into homosexuality unwillingly. So I would implore these offending gay people that their victims too have rights. However, if the bill is made to mean to exterminate gay people by any means possible, then I think it is going too far. Is Uganda ready for uninfluenced homosexuality? You tell me. - Ron Kalule Mbowa

But it is also easy to understand the anti-gay brigade, and here is why. There is an increasing clandestine campaign by Western-based groups to exploit and sway - through bribery - children, young, naive, unemployed and poverty-stricken men and women in Uganda. This global brigade (like the sinister paedophilia underground movements) lurks in the ever-burgeoning NGOs, missionary groups and globalised volunteerism to promote gay activities in a Ugandan society that largely knows little or nothing about homosexuality. Now what? If someone can go down for life/death for engaging in or promoting acts of terrorism or go down for being a paedophile WHY can't a gay person who promotes or makes sexual acts on unsuspecting victims, especially children go down for life?
I am struggling on this one, really I am. I am straight and would naturally sympathise with the straight group BUT that would be shallow if I consider that the Ugandan gays are not only fellow countrymen but also fellow human beings. There cannot be a Uganda for me, Ron (straight guy) and none for Michael (the gay guy and a former classmate at Uni who now lives in US but has hopes of coming back home but also now fears prosecution if the bill were to pass) YET we both pay allegiance to the same flag and say aloud - without fear or favour - For God and my country...continued in next post here below. - Ron Kalule Mbowa

Shocking things going on in Uganda. The world is watching!!!

I'm shocked to have read about whats going in Uganda. Didn't your God tell you to love and not to hate??? Isn't that the most important message?
What makes people so sure that THEY know what God likes and doesn't like. What makes them so sure it would please your God to kill other people, rathher than accept them as they are and live in tolerance?
What makes you them gay people are "evil" or "devilish"? What you plan to do to is the most evil and devilish thing that exist in the world! You CANNOT harm other people! This is unimaginable! Stop right now you are blinded by hate and madness!! This is not just evil and devilish, but also stupid, ignorant, sick, and a crime against humanity!
Why don't your government concentrate on providing education, security and health care and jobs to all citizens. Including gay citizens. Why hate? What positive outcomes will it have? - Pawel Szymanski, Poland

I wish this uproar would arise on more substantive issues, corruption, governance, health etc............but nooooooo! The anti-gay bill is far more important. We can't have much interest in strengthening institutions of government, fighting poverty, upholding the constitution. Not even a whisper when thugs loot our national coffers and walk away Scot-free, apparently what people do in private rings more alarm bells. What a disgrace............. no wonder our country won't move forward, and the current regime is lucky to have us as their electrolate, we are too easy and gullible! Kudos to the current regime, you shall rule forever, don't sweat it! - John M.M.I

We shall not be discouraged by the impact it would have on the economy. Gays are evil and devilish and we need to stamp them out at any cost. Hon. David Bahati should go on. The Gays/lesbians can not be as many as 500,000 or else... . We can not be threatened by your assumed figures. If you are gay, I give you God for proper handling. When people justify foolishness as a normal practice, we can not follow suit. Oh uganda, may God uphold thee! - Jonathan Kalani
