I can't stop laughing at the reference to Jolly Sabune and the Cotton Authority; 18 years and all she can show for it is a massive reduction in cotton exports. But she still holds down the job. I'm sure the intention of the people in control is to see the last cotton plan disappear before they relent!! Oh, Uganda!! What a joke!!! The writing is on the wall; Uganda is a failed state! The only difference between Uganda and Somalia is the fact that Somalia beat us at reaching the point of total chaos. At this rate, it's simply a matter of time. - Immaculate Nambi

Other professions also

This trend is definately demoralising and may lead to poor service delivery.
I also request to inform the media to note that as they always quote the doctors spending 18 years at school to achieve their degrees & then paid paltry, there are many similar professionals that take equally the same years e.g architect, lawyers. N.B currently uganda has many graduate nurses(wht degrees) hence also taking 17 or 18 years studying E.g (B.Sc.Nursing) takes 4yrs at university plus one year of internship!! At the end of all this they a paid paltry packages. Public service & Commisioners @ MOH need to streamline packages, appointment, job description of nurse wth degrees(BScN) and M.Sc.N other wise many are "flying" out of uganda. Am sure many other professionals face similar dilemma especially those new in our society, I dwelt on Nursing bcoz am also a B.Sc.N hence know the dynamics at play. For God & my country - MABO
