This does not matter at all. Right now Kenya is developing a port in Lamu town that will be at per with the Dubai one. It will serve Ethiopia, south Sudan, DRC, Cameroon etc. Man, it will take Tanzania ages to reach where Kenya is now. There is no comparison between this two countries. - Primus

Steven K seems to be the only sensible person here so far. Besides, Tanzania is still in dark ages and will take more that the Germans, Americans, Japanese, Chinese and Indians to get them on par with Kenya. As for the person suggesting Kenyans do not get much from Uganda, it supply and demand, if you have nothing that I want then there is nothing for me to get. - Bongo

Basic economics will tell you that competition breeds efficiency, lowers prices, etc, etc. This diversification is actually good for Kenya too, because they'll be able to be more efficient, good for Uganda because we'll get cheaper rates, and good for TZ because they'll enjoy added revenue. Lets all look at the positive side of this, for the whole E. African region. - Steven K

We Tanzanians we love you Ugandans. We cannot uproot your railway just for one acre of land which is not even strategic. We can work together to insure we come to win-win situations. - Dr Ephata

Provoked by Idi Amin in the mid 1970's, Kenya closed the border with Uganda and the population suffered from fuel shortage among other things. When Museveni came to power, Kenya did the same, accusing Museveni of supporting Mwakenya, exporting revolution etc. Then recently...so the alternative route is a welcome project in order to break Kenya's monopoly. - Rev Amos Kasibante
