Today is the third day of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, or COP15. What is meant to be a convergence of world leaders to set new targets for international cooperation on climate change has already sparked controversy over the leaked draft of Denmark’s proposal for a final document, which developing countries have accused as being unfair. The following are links to some of the best and most interesting articles on the Conference and the controversies:
The Council on Foreign Relations provides a nice background to the Conference and an introduction to the key players.
Foreign Policy writes about the various issues dogging the participants and what the potential outcomes will be.
Naomi Klein, writing for The Nation, has a great piece on the Conference and the African perspective
Danish daily newspaper, Politiken, provides good English-language updates. Today’s article “Developing Nations Livid” describes the anger felt at the leaked draft of the final document.
The Root also offers an interesting perspective on the class divisions on display at the Conference.
Finally, environmental blog Tree Hugger, has a slide show revealing the simmering tensions at the Conference and the various activities of protesters and activists.
