“You people and your Besigye, you only think about the town people. When the food prices go up, the town people get affected, but remember there are other citizens called farmers. When the food prices go up, the farmers are very happy. If prices have gone up, this is good,” President Museveni said while addressing the press at his country home in Rwakitura on April 17 about the opposition protests against rising commodity prices.
“We have video recordings and pictures of all these activities taking place and they are in safe custody. We shall utilise them at the right time. We shall take them to court,” the opposition A4C National Coordinator Mathias Mpuuga said in regard to the clashes between protesters and the police.
“Shs850 is charged on every liter of petrol, Shs 530 diesel and Shs 200 on paraffin,” Sarah Banage, the URA public relations officer said. She was reacting to opposition politicians who said that increased taxation has led to high fuel prices.

He was reacting to the “Data Form Cadet officers document 2010/2011” which shows that districts from western Uganda dominate police recruitments.
