Gulf Air’s commencement of flights between Bahrain and Entebbe is set to open new doors for commercial and tourism opportunities for the country and East Africa as a whole, a top official of the airline has said.
“We are confident this new route will be a success for both our passenger and cargo operations, and we look forward to facilitating business and leisure traffic between the two countries and beyond,” Chief Services Officer Marcus Bernhardt said shortly after the inaugural flight touched down on December 5.
Gulf Air is the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the largest network operator in the Middle East. The airline is offering four non-stop weekly flights between Entebbe and Bahrain.
Present to welcome the airline was Civil Aviation Authority Managing Director Rama Makuza, who said the airline would enjoy several freedoms and rights as per mutual agreement. Gulf Air becomes the 20th airline to operate in Uganda, which he said would give more options to travelers.
But being the Middle East’s largest network carrier, Gulf Air is well positioned to connect Uganda to several key destinations in the region providing excellent connectivity via Bahrain with seamless and convenient flight schedules to key destinations such as Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Bombay in India or the Far East.
