Fred Lukumu, the Bulisa LC 5 Chairperson and Beatrice Mpairwe, the Woman MP have suffered defeat in the NRM district executive party elections.
Lukumu was trounced to the post of NRM district chairman by Simon Kinene, an LC3 councillor, while Mpairwe lost to little-known Idah Mulimba on the post of party treasurer.
The district vice chairman Moses Businge, who is warming up for a parliamentary contest was defeated by former MP Jonathan Nyendwoha for the post of vice chairperson.
Nelson Kwesiga, the Buliisa district chairperson of the public accounts committee, and an aspirant for the district chair went through unopposed as general secretary.
Forty-eight delegates participated in the exercise, characterized by a lot of lobbying.
Political players say the outcome is being interpreted as an initiation for the general elections, hardly two years away.
Chairman Lukumu, although sounding crestfallen, because of the bad results on his side says, “after all only 48 people†participated.
He cautions the successful ones not to use their positions to divide the party.
Israel Kayongo, a commissioner from the NRM electoral commission said the exercise was free, fair and transparent.
NRM, had since the creation of Buliisa district three years ago never filled its executive posts, just like several other non-political posts
